Tokyo Ghoul:re Episode 1 - Review!

Tokyo Ghoul:re Episode 1 :- Those Who Hunt: START

Two years have passed since the CCG's raid on Anteiku. Although the atmosphere in Tokyo has changed drastically due to the increased influence of the CCG, ghouls continue to pose a problem as they have begun taking caution, especially the terrorist organization Aogiri Tree, who acknowledge the CCG's growing threat to their existence.

The creation of a special team, known as the Quinx Squad, may provide the CCG with the push they need to exterminate Tokyo's unwanted residents. As humans who have undergone surgery in order to make use of the special abilities of ghouls, they participate in operations to eradicate the dangerous creatures. The leader of this group, Haise Sasaki, is a half-ghoul, half-human who has been trained by famed special class investigator, Kishou Arima. However, there's more to this young man than meets the eye, as unknown memories claw at his mind, slowly reminding him of the person he used to be.

Unfortunately, everything else surrounding the heart-pounding action is far less appealing. Outside of the visuals, Tokyo Ghoul:re feels so tonally different from previous seasons. It’s oddly lighthearted to the point where it almost feels like a complete spin-off, but despite the new characters, it isn’t exactly a starting point for new viewers either. The premiere’s premise is rather shallow, too, serving only to introduce the new characters that make up the Quinx squad. Several of these new investigators are introduced and features in various capacities over the course of this one episode, and it results in their development feeling underwhelming at best. The episode as a whole lacks necessary focus by attempting to do too much all at once.

At a glance, the first episode of Tokyo Ghoul:re fits the expected aesthetics of the series. The intense action and moody visuals are some of the most impressive that Studio Pierrot has done, but the shaky tone belies its signature style. Opting to focus on introducing too many characters at once, most of the episode falls flat. Regardless, the surprising cliffhanger ending has me excited to see where it goes from here.

Thats It Guys I am Looking Forward To Episode 2 Wonder What Happens!
