Introduction:-
In an alternate Feudal Era Japan, giant insects known as "Mushi" started appearing and attacking people 100 years before and since then they bring terror and death to the country. To counter the threat of the Mushi, the Shogunate establishes the City Patrol who acts under the Mushi Magistrate (Mushibugyō) to assemble warriors strong enough to fight them. The story follows Jinbei Tsukishima, a young and cheerful samurai who is the newest member of the City Patrol answering a summon to his father by the Magistrate, but as he is not able to fight anymore, Jinbei takes the burden of protecting Edo from the Mushi in his place.
Plot/Summary :-
In Feudal Japan, the people of Edo are under siege by giant insects that ravage the land. The people desperately beg the government to do something about it. Thus the Insect Magistrate Office is established, gathering strong warriors to defend against the onset of pests.
Mushibugyou follows Jinbee Tsukishima, a young man striving to be a master swordsman like his father. To atone for a horrific incident that occurred at his fault, Jinbee seeks to take his father's place as a member of the Insect Magistrate Office. On his journey there, he meets the lovely Haru, a young woman who helps manage her family’s tea house, and is forced to put his sword to good use in saving her from a grisly fate. This act of bravery that earns him a spot in the Insect Magistrate. Will this rookie exterminator be able to rid the land of the horde of insects swarming in?
Quotes :-
“Feudal Japan, samurai’s and fantasy finally collide!!”
Story :-
Historical anime series are always a gamble in my opinion; most people do not enjoy the history element of some series and would rather just stick to action. Luckily though, this anime combines those two to create one of the most underrated series of 2013 (in my opinion) and a series that will have you loathing insects more than you probably already do.
Mushibugyou revolves around feudal Japan; in a slightly fictional time where giant insects terrorize the streets of Edo. To counter the giant insects, The Mushi Magistrate was formed; consisting of powerful allies that aim to rid the insects from Edo under the order of the Mushi Magistrate (or Mushibugyou). Tsukishima Jinbei, a straight-hearted samurai decides to join the Magistrate, where he meets many new friends and countless enemies. However, nobody, including Jinbei, is still unaware of the enemies and secrets that revolve around the Mushi Magistrate.Jinbei Tsukishima acted as a human pillar of goodness and hope. Throughout the anime, his goodness towards other people, whether foe or ally, doesn't change a single bit but it became stronger as he met more people, with different perspectives and experiences, as a member of the Insect Magistrate's office.
His goodness was first shown when he saved Oharu from getting eaten by an insect. Oharu told him about her parents' horrible death in the hands of the insects and lost hope in living as being eaten was always an everyday activity in Edo; but he gave her hope by promising her that he will do his very best to protect her and Edo from the insect. Later on, with Hibachi, he encouraged and shared sentiments towards Mugai. He helped Tenma to overcome his fears. He admired and strongly believed in Shunguki. His strong determination and will touched Mugai which lead Mugai to open his heart on Jinbei. His promise of seeing the skies in Edo with the Insect Magistrate or Princess Naa. And it made his teammates to accept him and to believe in him as one of them. These things were only some of his goodness list which changed lives for the better.
His iron determination, will, and persistent were also one of his good points. Because of these characteristics, he gave hope to his teammates to overcome the struggles in battle and to have strength that can kill their enemies. Although the foe was not in his league, for example Yukimura Sanada, he didn't lose hope and continued to battle although his body was not in fighting shape. That's because he didn't waver on his philosophy that to win every battles until he died. He also obsessed about being stronger since he didn't want to burden his teammates and didn't want to experiece the humilation that he can't protect anyone on his power. It was also to become an aide for his teammates.
Conclusion :-
I’d have to say that the strength of this anime is in it’s sheer simplicity, not it’s complexity. With heaps of mind-boggling psychological anime’s that seem unique, this anime doesn’t seem all that special from the outside. And to be honest, it isn’t really. But the one thing that makes this anime awesome is it’s insides; it’s sheer simplicity and awe that leaves every viewer wanting more. Yes, some parts can be quite expected, while others not so much. But I believe that we have been missing simple anime’s like this, and I think it’s a good idea that you give this anime a go.
Recommendation :-
Of course -, Its an Samurai anime.
My rcommendation is 8.5/10.
I strongly recommend it for Samurai lover.
