Quotes :-

“A slice-of-life anime that’s so ordinary that it’s awesome”

Story :-

Yes, here is yet another slice-of-life anime for you to feast your eyes on. I have seen many people saying that they dislike slice-of-life anime’s due to its lack of “story”, which I can tell you right now is complete bullsh*t. Whether you like slice-of-life anime’s or not, there are a countless number of them being made and loved by many people. In fact, many famous and well-acclaimed anime’s such as Lucky Star and Nichijou are nothing but slice-of-life. But here is one that is just so ordinary that it is probably one of the cutest series you will watch.

GJ-bu (pronounced Gujjo-bu, a play on words between the word Good Job and the name of clubs in Japan that end with the word bu) revolves around the club members of the GJ Club – (in the above picture from left to right: Shion, Kyoro, Kirara, Mao and Megumi) – who’s main activities include chatting together with each other, reading manga, eating, sleeping and basically doing nothing all day. But it is those ordinary conversations and happenings that make this club so different and special.

The series ran for 12 episodes and ran during the Winter 2013 Anime Season (January 2013 – March 2013). The series is based off a 10 volume light novel series written by Araki Shin and illustrated by Aruya. The anime series is animated by Studio Dogakobo, who have animated such well-known series as Jigoku ShoujoYuruYuri and Saikano.

Conclusion :-

The series has been closely referred to being quite similar to the Seitokai no Ichizon series, in which the main characters spend most of their time in the student council classroom instead of the club room. But I believe that GJ-bu is just a little different to Seitokai no Ichizon for a number of reasons. Firstly, there is much more of a comedy element in Seitokai no Ichizon compared to this series which just lets the comedy slide for the viewers to respond to themselves. This series is also a lot calmer compared to Seitokai no Ichizon and has much more surreal comedy, which makes it funny in itself. Either way, this series (and also Seitokai no Ichizon) are great to watch, and I recommend it to everyone.

Recommendation :-

Of course -,  Its an Slice of Life  anime.

My rcommendation is 8/10.

I strongly recommend it for lover.

  1. This was a very weird character piece and there were some episodes I found really grating, but others were very enjoyable. Overall, mixed thoughts about this one.
